Oh my gawd, that’s some funky shit! With three distinct versions of Root Down, this is billed as an EP, but with 7 other songs on it, that aren’t on other albums, it seems like a full album. This is pure-party-time Beasties. They’re having fun layering screamy vocals, chopping out lyrics in double time, playing around with speed, feedback, heavy bass, and just pounding it out over grungy rock undertones. It’s a fun album. Just don’t try to eat mashed potatoes while listening to it. —Amy
