When Charles Bradley finished his set at Nelsonville Music Fest, his round belly sticking out of his too-small leather vest, he was welcomed into the damp throng of people below and hugged everyone he could. His spirit and energy were unquestionably sweet, sensitive, needing love, and giving love in return. His soulful covers are similarly reciprocal. He gives back to each of them as much as he takes, and maybe more. The world lost him (in 2017) just as we were getting Into him. It hurts. All you can do is hug strangers and keep him in your heart.
