Hot take; Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is the best American rock n’ roll band. There. I said it. And if this record doesn’t make a case for that opinion, I don’t know what will.
The band has jelled both in and out of the studio. Tom has written some of his sweetest jams to date. They hooked up with (super) producer Jimmy Iovine. Damn the Torpedoes kicked down the doors, turned up the amps, and brought sweaty catchy rock n’ roll back to the radio dial of the early 80’s. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers…. Damn.
